Why I Travel
This is not a post displaying me in some exotic location in a bikini, and it’s not about showing off the glamorous and luxurious life of travel.
Because that’s not who I am and that’s not why I travel.
You see, traveling for me, has always been about more than just what the eye can see. It’s about much more than that.
It’s about the feeling you get stepping off of your plane into a new world.
It’s meeting the people, and immersing yourself in a different way of doing life, because there are so many ways to live.
It’s the beauty of discovery.
It’s becoming a member of another society—gaining a family, friends.
It’s about learning and obtaining a new perspective every.single.time.
It’s speaking a different language than the one you grew up with.
It’s discovering how to express emotion in alternative ways.
And it’s being there, not just for the photo, but all in the moments that you have to spend in those places and with those people.
For me, travel has been my life’s ultimate dream—to escape to far-off destinations in order not just to learn about the people, places, cultures, and history of foreign lands—but also to discover myself.
With each new experience, I unveil new and interesting parts of myself, growing as a person more than I ever would if I stayed immobile.
So I say to you, travel is more than an Instagram photo—it’s journey and lifelong experience.
And I hope, if you get the chance to travel, that you do it not for the photos or the tourism or to brag, but for the beauty of discovery and an understanding of a collective humanity that we are all a part of.
